2010 Recruiting

So far the 2010 class has started out pretty good by already landing three good verbal commits.

1. Chris Martin DE out of Oakland and Bishop O Dowd high school but he might transfer to a prep school in New Jersey. He is 6'4 and 222 lbs. According to Scout he is a 5 star and the 4th best player in the nation for next year. Chris is has already been named a 2010 high school army all american.

2. Christian Lombard OG out Palatine Illinois. He is 6'5 and 280 lbs. He to has already been named a 2010 army all american but he is not a 5 star like Martin but atleast he is a 4 star. Lombard according to scout is the 64 best player coming out of high school.

3. Daniel Smith WR right out of South Bend, Clay High School. Smith has good height 6'4 and 205 lbs. He like Lombard is a 4 star but was not one of the early ten players to be named for the army all american game. Smith has a junior caught 51 passes 1,071 yards and 9 TD celebrations. Though he will probably have to wait his time to get a lot of game action considering the depth the irish have at that position.

The Final Four...... But its the NIT

The Irish defeated the Kentucky Wildcats earlier this evening 77-67. It twas the last game ever played at the Joyce Center, next year it will become the Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center. The Irish played outstanding tonight with Ryan Ayers knocking down three pointers (4-7) and Luke Harangody showing why he shouldve been BE player of the year with 30 points and 11 rebounds. A stat that goes unnoticed for big man is assists and Luke Harangody had 4 assists which is pretty great for a big man. I would talk more about this game and the upcoming game against Penn State right now but i should really being doing my Homework instead.

Next up: Penn State on tuesday at 9 ET

Weis on the Future

I personally like alot of things about what weis said in this interview. Ther is no reason the Irish cant have a big year this year. We have all the talent in the world. I cant wait for football season to start up again. This is Clausen's break out year.

NIT matchup

Notre Dame will play either Kentucky or Creighton in the elite eight of the NIT. If Kentucky wins then the Irish will be able to play one more final home game, but if Creighton wins then the Irish will have to travel Creighton. The Irish will play on Wednesday though. The Kentucky and Creighton game will be finished later today. Right now Creighton is up 33 to 31 at half time.

NIT

So yesterday the Irish basketball team obviously didn't make the NCAA tournament. Instead the Irish will be playing in the NIT. They got a reasonable 2 seed in a 32 team tournament. The Irish will play at 9et Tuesday against a respectable UAB team. Here is the NIT schedule at ESPN.

I had to put this up

Me and my older brother colin o'keefe (writer of grizzoulian.com) just signed up together for Chicago Cubs season tickets. We are currently 103844 on the waiting list. I guess i wont have to worry about that for a long time.
